The County Board will be involved earlier in proposed Milwaukee County land sales under a new policy endorsed Monday. The policy was recommended by the board’s Committee on Economic and Community Development after committee supervisors expressed concerns over the procedure that led to the proposed sale of the Downtown Transit Center to developer Rick Barrett….If that sale is later approved in a separate board vote, and if Barrett obtains financing, the underused center would be demolished and replaced with a $120 million, 44-story apartment and hotel high-rise, called The Couture….The new policy would not apply to the proposed transit center sale, but it would be used for future property sales. It would mirror past procedures used by the board on other county land sales….
