Confusion, mixups and delays with busing on the first day of school in Sparta have left parents and students concerned and upset. Many elementary school children were on the wrong buses, some arrived home hours late and other worried parents ended up picking their children up at the transportation headquarters, where they vented at administrators. … Administrators in June eliminated 21 transportation jobs and contracted with Michigan Educational Transportation Services, of Portland, to provide most bus services. In addition, the district pays the Cedar Springs district to bus Sparta students in routes that cross district boundary lines.
