Regional living costs are closely related to the quality of life, migration patterns, and , by extension, long-term economic potential. This article updates the Moody’s Economy.com Cost of Living Index for U.S. metropolitan areas and assesses how changes in living costs may impact the regional pattern of economic growth. A detailed description of the methodology for calculating the index also is provided.
