Health policy experts Arthur Garson Jr. and Carolyn L. Engelhard of the University of Virginia are co-authors of “Health Care Half-Truths: Too Many Myths, Not Enough Reality.” This guest column begins a series of monthly excepts from the book, in which Garson and Engelhard dissect the misinformation and misperceptions that so often confound policy makers when debating health care reform. Both authors previously shared their prescription for the states, which they argued “have taken the lead in addressing many of the challenges facing our current health system.”
