NLC’s Institute for Youth, Education, and Families (YEF Institute) has published two new strategy guides to help municipal officials improve and expand out-of-school time opportunities in their cities and towns.
One of these publications, entitled “Financial Strategies to Support Citywide Systems of Out-of-School Time Programs,” describes several options and funding streams that city officials may consider for supporting and sustaining local afterschool programs. This guide, made possible by support from The Wallace Foundation, features city examples of four strategies that have been used to develop sustainable citywide systems of high-quality out-of-school time programs.
The second strategy guide, entitled “Cities and Statewide Afterschool Networks Partnering to Support Afterschool,” highlights opportunities for collaboration with 38 statewide afterschool networks funded by the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. The report shows how cities are working with these networks to improve program quality and influence state funding and policy.
